Rilington Communities has become the first large-scale developer in the Coachella Valley to commit to building houses that are more energy-efficient than state standards.
Builder of the Year Rilington Communities announced that Wesley Ahlgren has been promoted to Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Rilington Communities. In his new position, Ahlgren will manage community and legislative affairs, media relations and special projectsfor the growing regional homebuilder.

Cathedral City-based home builder Rilington Communities will host the monthly Leadership Coachella Valley forum with a presentation on housing, to be held at their new-home community of Dolce in Palm Desert. It will take place Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at 35-386 Sereno Lane.

CATHEDRAL CITY ― January 2, 2007 ― Rilington Communities has been recognized with the prestigious “Builder of the Year” designation for 2006 from the BIA (Building Industry Association) Desert Chapter. Theaward was presented to Rilington principals, Mickie and Hansi Riley at the holiday-themed BIA awards gala by Palm Springs Mayor Ron Odom and John Young, President of Young Homes and of the BIASC. Fred Bell, the BIA Desert Chapter Executive Director offered many words of praise to the Rileys and Rilington Communities. Numerous cities in Riverside County presented a proclamation to the newly named “Builder of the Year.” Held at the elegant Renaissance Esmeralda on Saturday, December 16, the black-tie gala included a roster of attendees made up of prominent city dignitaries as well as building industry professionals.

The event included a dedication to Mickie Riley, President of Rilington Communities by Steve Sanchez of Assembywoman Bonnie Garcia’s office, and words from Cathedral City Mayor, Kathy DeRosa, Fred Bell, Executive Officer of the Building Industry Association/ Southern California Desert Chapter, and Chairman-elect of the Cathedral City Chamber of Commerce, and by Mary Beth Hunt, Executive Director of The Chamber. Attendees also included a number of distinguished officials of The Cathedral City Chamber of Commerce, the City Council and members of the building industry.
